Welcome to the first Women Coders PK blog post.

Pakistan’s tech industry is growing faster than almost any other sector in the country. New startups launch every month, software houses are expanding, and demand for developers keeps climbing. But look closely at who fills those seats, and a pattern emerges: women remain significantly underrepresented — not because of a lack of talent, but because of a lack of access.

Access to structured training. Access to mentors who look like them. Access to a clear, credible path from “I’m curious about coding” to “I’m employed as a developer.”

That gap is exactly why Women Coders PK exists.

Who We Are

Women Coders PK is a gender-responsive initiative with one clear mission: train 10,000 women coders across Pakistan by 2030. We’re a program under Women Technology House, and we work hand-in-hand with NGOs, government bodies, and corporate partners to make that goal real — not just on paper, but in classrooms, workshops, and job placements across the country.

We started in Islamabad. We’re now active in Abbottabad too, with more chapters on the way as we build out a model that other cities can adopt and lead.

How We’re Structured

Instead of throwing everyone into a single course, we built a five-stage funnel that meets women wherever they’re starting from:

  1. Webinar — a first introduction, no experience needed
  2. Seminar — going deeper into a specific topic
  3. Workshop — hands-on, practical skill-building
  4. Course — structured, sustained learning
  5. Training — a job-ready bootcamp with mentorship and placement support

This means a complete beginner and someone brushing up mid-career skills can both find their entry point — and keep moving forward at their own pace.

Beyond Training: The PFD Directory

Training is only half the picture. The other half is making sure skilled women actually get seen by the people hiring.

That’s where Pakistan Female Developers (PFD) comes in — our directory for women developers with two or more years of professional experience. It’s a space where employers, corporates, and partners looking to build more diverse teams can directly connect with experienced talent.

Why This Matters Beyond the Numbers

It’s easy to talk about gender gaps in statistics. But behind every number is a woman who didn’t have someone to point her toward her first line of code, her first internship, her first “yes, you’re qualified for this.”

Our chapters, our funnel, and our directory all exist to be that “yes” — repeated at scale, across every province, until the gap actually closes.

Where We’re Headed

This blog will be where we share our progress: new chapters launching, partnerships forming, stories from the women moving through our programs, and the milestones — big and small — on the road to 10,000.

If you’re a woman looking to start or grow your tech journey, an organization thinking about partnership, or someone who simply wants to follow along, you’re in the right place.

This is just the beginning.
